The Story

This album offers a modern interpretation of William Blake’s profound ideas, presenting them through the powerful and expressive medium of heavy metal music. Each track not only stands alone in exploring specific themes and inspirations but also contributes to a cohesive narrative that guides the listener through a transformative journey. By intertwining Blake’s visionary art and poetry with dynamic musical compositions, the album invites reflection on the constraints of society, the depths of the human psyche, and the transformative power of embracing all facets of existence.

1. Prologue – “Innocence”

Inspired by “Songs of Innocence”, William Blake’s collection of poems that celebrate childhood innocence, purity, and a harmonious relationship with nature.

2. “Chains of Reason”

Inspired by Blake’s critique of restrictive rationality and oppressive societal norms, particularly through his portrayal of Urizen as the embodiment of conventional reason and law.

3. “The Forge of Urizen”

Inspired by “The Book of Urizen”, where Blake presents Urizen as the creator who forges laws and chains that bind humanity, symbolizing the limitations imposed by rigid structures.

4. “Demiurge’s Dominion”

Inspired by the Gnostic concept of the Demiurge and Blake’s reinterpretation of the Old Testament God as a distant, flawed creator imposing order, paralleling Urizen’s role.

5. “Compass of the Architect”

Inspired by Blake’s incorporation of Masonic symbolism, especially the compass representing God as the “Great Architect of the Universe,” reflecting his interest in Speculative Freemasonry and Druidic traditions.

6. “The Great Red Dragon”

Inspired by Blake’s series of paintings depicting “The Great Red Dragon,” which symbolize inner demons, temptation, fear, and the intense struggle within the human psyche.

7. “Nebuchadnezzar’s Descent”

Inspired by Blake’s artwork “Nebuchadnezzar”, illustrating the biblical king’s transformation into a beast as a representation of madness, loss of identity, and the consequences of pride.

8. “Embers of Rebellion”

Inspired by Blake’s revolutionary ideas and advocacy for personal and societal liberation, reflecting his support for resistance against oppression and the awakening of the collective spirit.

9. “The Marriage of Heaven and Hell”

Inspired by Blake’s work “The Marriage of Heaven and Hell”, which explores the union of opposites and suggests that progress arises from the dynamic interplay between contrasting forces.

10. “Jerusalem Unbound”

Inspired by Blake’s epic poem “Jerusalem: The Emanation of the Giant Albion”, expressing his vision of a spiritual awakening and the pursuit of a higher state of being or enlightenment.

11. “The Tyger’s Question”

Inspired by “The Tyger”, a poem from Blake’s “Songs of Experience”, which contemplates the mysteries of creation and the duality of beauty and terror embodied in the Tyger.

12. “Auguries of Innocence”

Inspired by Blake’s poem “Auguries of Innocence”, containing paradoxical aphorisms that reflect on the interconnectedness of all things and the presence of the infinite within the finite.

13. “Visions of Albion”

Inspired by Blake’s concept of Albion, representing both the mythical ancient Britain and the universal human soul, symbolizing themes of spiritual awakening and unity.

14. “Echoes of Eternity”

Inspired by Blake’s exploration of the journey from innocence to experience, emphasizing the wisdom gained through life’s trials as reflected in his combined works “Songs of Innocence and of Experience”.
