The Story

A historical metal concept album chronicling the rise and fall of the Inca Empire. Sapa Inca blends the flamenco-tinged sounds of Spanish guitars with the haunting voice of Andean instruments—charango, quena, zampoña, bombo—woven into Tierra Krieg’s metal foundation.

Each track follows pivotal moments: Atahualpa’s capture at Cajamarca, Manco Inca’s fiery rebellion, Spanish civil wars, puppet rulers like Paullu and Sayri Túpac, and the final fall of Vilcabamba with the execution of Túpac Amaru in 1572. Closing with “Descent into Hell,” the album reflects on the forced labor and despair that followed conquest.

Less brutal than past releases, Sapa Inca is defined by its hybrid of Spanish and Incan soundscapes, carrying the listener through war, betrayal, and survival.
