The Story

Renaissance Requiem evokes the delicate, polyphonic beauty of the Renaissance Madrigal—a complex vocal form born in 13th-century Italy and perfected in 16th-century England—kicking and screaming into the modern age. We’ve taken the intricate vocal counterpoint and poetic word-painting of historical masters like Monteverdi, Gesualdo, and Gibbons, and translated those independent voices into weaving dual-guitar harmonies, thunderous blast beats, and epic symphonic metal orchestration.
Narratively, the album serves as a dark historical descent. It traces a story arc from the pristine purity of ancient, unaccompanied voices through the madness of forbidden dissonance and murder, culminating in the fiery censorship of the 1497 Bonfire of the Vanities. It’s a tragic saga of how the strict rules of the past were broken, corrupted, and ultimately burned to ash. Let the requiem begin!
