The Story

Death on the Yalu is a genre-bending concept album set in the freezing skies above the Korean War’s infamous Yalu River border, circa 1951. We follow a fictional American pilot who carries a devastating burden: the loss of his own schoolroom students back home in a civilian tragedy that was never supposed to happen. This deeply personal grief fuels his mission, transforming state-sanctioned containment duty into a raw, personal pursuit of vengeance.

From a cockpit that holds both a cherished wife’s photo and a tragic vision of children’s faces, he navigates a landscape where democracy collides with communism, and the only sure thing is the next dogfight.

To capture this extreme polarity, the album’s sound is a powerful and unique fusion, violently colliding the nostalgic, melodic textures of 1950s music styles—from Swing and Jazz to Americana Folk—with the unrelenting, aggressive force of Modern Metal (Speed, Thrash, Industrial Doom, and Death Metal). Every riff is a tracer, every solo a memory caught in fire. It is memory made into metal, where one minute is an eternity.
