The Story
“March of The Ten Thousand” is a gripping concept album that brings to life the legendary march of the Greek mercenaries, as detailed in Xenophon’s Anabasis. Set between 401 and 399 BC, the album captures the intense struggle and survival of the Ten Thousand Greeks as they marched across Anatolia, fought the Battle of Cunaxa, and ultimately battled their way back to Greece after being stranded in hostile Persian territory 1,000 miles from home.
The album blends the ferocity of dark guitar riffs with epic, battle-driven orchestration, echoing the tactical brilliance and endurance of the Greeks. Lyrically, the album focuses on their remarkable victory at Cunaxa, the treachery of Tissaphernes, and their eventual escape through the mountains and river crossings, battling Persian forces, wild tribes, and nature itself. Themes of survival, leadership, and defiance in the face of impossible odds are woven throughout the tracks, delivering an unforgettable and immersive historical journey.
